Training With The B.C.B.

Whether you are totally new to the sport or if you are already qualified, our branch offers a cost effective opportunity that enables you to participate in this fantastic sport. We are able to promote this sport that we love by adopting a new approach to the way our branch is run. All tuition by our Nationally Qualified Instructor(s) (NQI) is VOLUNTARY.

New trainees will participate in a 3 part course, consisting of: -

             A)         Theory lessons

             B)          Sheltered Water (Pool) lessons

             C)          Open water lessons

The theory lessons are usually given at a designated place and are conducted on an informal basis.

The sheltered water lessons are given as and when required. We hire a local swimming pool for the duration of the course. Usually the pool training is undertaken on one evening per week over an eight week period—each lesson lasting for one hour. This cost of the pool hire is split amongst the number of students participating in the course. This is payable in advance and is non-refundable. Any additional training will be charged accordingly. Additional lessons will have to be paid for separately. This approach means that the Black Country Barracudas do not have to hire a pool regularly enabling us to reduce the club subscription fees considerably.
